My dear blogger friend and reviewer colleague Patricia at FiktiveWelten has nominated me for the Liebster Award – my first nomination at all! My blog is only a few months old, and now look what great news I can share *happy dance* I am super excited, thrilled beyond words and kind of speechless. Well, not literally *laugh* since I am writing this post to answer the questions Patricia has asked me to and to come up with some new ones for the bloggers/blogs I want to nominate and all the other things that come along with such a fantastic nomination.

For all those, who are somehow familiar with this award (or not), the logo you are seeing at the top is the one from the German (or European?) version of it. But its core is the same. The Liebster Award is meant to discover and showing new blogs or bloggers you adore, like or follow and what they do.

Patricia thank you very much for nominating me, for being such a great friend over the past few weeks and months (and hopefully many more to come), for cheering me up when I needed it, for just being there and for finding always the right words at the right time and for letting me use you as my personal “trashcan” when it comes to - well, guess you know what I mean *whimsically smile*

So thanks again, you made my day when you told me about this a few days ago and what you planned on doing.

The Rules

  • Acknowledge the blog that nominated you, link it to your post and display the award.
  • Answer 11 questions that the blog gives you.
  • Nominate 5-11 blogs you think deserve the Liebster Award.
  • Give them 11 questions to answer.
  • Write the rules in your Liebster Award blog post.
  • Let the blogs know about your post and that you have nominated them.

Okay, now to the more personal stuff. I have to admit that I answered some of the questions very quickly, others I had to think a bit first. Is that now good or bad? *smile*

Why does your blog exist?

Well, that´s an easy one. Most of my international friends’ can´t read my German reviews but want to, so after I was looking for a proper solution and nothing of the other ideas I had sounded right, the idea of running my own blog came up and on December 23. 2015, Gone With The Books was born.

How much time do you take for your blog posts and around it?

Phew, that´s a very good question and *ahem* not easy to answer since I don´t use a stopwatch or look at my clock when I am sitting and working on my blog. I do spend quite some time creating logos and share my posts on Social media but can´t tell a real number here. Depends on my schedule for the day, what my plans for the week/weekend are and what books I am reading.

Which hobbies fulfill you besides blogging, books and possibly movie/series?

I love to paint, draw, listen to music, enjoying a Latte macchiato or cup of tea, spending time with my family and friends & sometimes simply relax by doing nothing but watching all kinds of birds flying around the premises.

Which book was your first one and do you still have it?

Mary Poppins from A-Z by P.L. Travers – and yes, I still have it *smile*

Hardcover, paperback or eBook – your favorite?

Definitely hardcover.

How do you feel about review copies (pro/contra)?

Well, what can I say? I am a reviewer and most of the books I read and review are provided by publishers to me. So I´d say I feel great about them. Every time I receive a reviewer copy and it is the actual book I would get when I go and buy it in a store - I am happy and kind of dancing through my place.

But, to be honest; I am no fan of the in this country so-called “reading copy” which is a very cheap paperback version with a small cover picture on the front and which most of the time look like crap the way they are bundled – at least that´s what I experienced every time I got one. If they would be like the so-called ARC´s the publishers and authors give out in the US or the UK I probably would feel otherwise about it.

So I prefer to receive for my review the print edition, like from the next bookstore. For me, it is my actual “payment” for investing my time to read it, writing a review and do some kind of promotion with it not only for the publisher but for the author as well. Yes, reading & reviewing is my passion, and I stand by it, but I still see it that way.

Are/ were you rather a reader or writer?

Right now? Definitely a reader. There are so many new books coming out over the upcoming weeks and months *lol*. But who knows what the future will bring …

Birthday or Christmas – what do you prefer to celebrate?

You are asking me questions, jeez *laugh*. I don´t celebrate both very much, to be honest. And since I lived in the US, Christmas here in Europe is kind of “colorless” to me. Sounds awkward? Guess it is then …

Ghosts of the past (passed away or aborted contact) – which human would you like to meet again and why?

Phew, that is one very good question *smile*. Since I am an Austrian-born; Empress Elisabeth of Habsburg would be the person I would like to meet in person. She still is a fascinating woman, was – for her time - very independently and rebellious - and I would love to have a chat with her and hear her answers. Guess that would be one heck of an interesting talk *smile*

What or whom you cannot stand?

Oh, that´s a tricky one *laugh* - do you really think I give you a name? No, but I will say this: I can´t stand people who treat others unfair, who set up some stupid rules only because they think they can and want to keep control over everything – whether it´s ok or not. And I hate liars, no matter what gender, color or age.

Find at least 5 adjective (or more ;o) that define your life!

Phew! You are really asking things … okay, let´s see if I can put myself into trouble since I am no grammar girl at all: black, inconvenient, honest, straight, and loyal. I guess that sums it up.

Now, here are my 5 nominees *drum-roll*

Mikku-chan – A world full of words
Pondering the Prose
pop.edit.lit
Bookfever
Caffeinated Reviewer

I thought of you because each of you has a different blog-style, different interests as well but you all have one thing in common: the passion for books.

And at this point, I want to mention two great Ladies as well, which were actually among my nominated but won´t participate. I accept and respect their decision, but I wanted to express my admiration and gratitude for them and this is the way how I am going to do it.

Lexxie from (un)Conventional Bookworms
Ashley from NoseGraze

I learned so much from you and follow your blogs with great interest. Thank you for helping me, for answering all my questions (and I had tons of them!) and for letting many things become less incomprehensible to me *smile*

Here are my 11 questions for my Nominees

  • What was your first thought when you heard about your nomination?
  • Your favorite novel?
  • What book are you most excited about releasing this year?
  • What is your favorite author?
  • If you could ask your favorite author only one question, what would you like to ask her/him?
  • Where is your favorite place to read?
  • If you could live in the world of one of your favorite characters/books – which would it be and why?
  • Ebook or physical book?
  • Tea or Coffee?
  • What means reviewing books to you?
  • What book would you like to be made into a movie and who would you cast in the leading roles?

I am looking forward to reading all your posts and to see what your answers will be. Hope you can enjoy this as much as I do and thanks for sharing this wonderful time with me – no matter what´ll happen in the end *smile*

Best wishes

  4. I love hardcovers for the books I want on my shelves, but apart from that, I prefer e-books, as they don't take up as much space :)
