This is an adorable series, where you can simply turn off your head and just enjoy the story. If you are in for a relaxing read, a bit fun, a bit tragedy and all mixed up with some British humor and wit, and you don´t expect something very profound, then this is your book, for sure. I read the first book Girl Online because I got asked if I´d be interested. The cover wasn´t really my thing, but it sounded like a fun read and it turned out to be one. So when I found out, that there is another book by Zoe Sugg, I went for it and had a good time reading it.

When Noah invites Penny on his first-ever European tour, she can´t wait to spend the summer with her rock-god-tastic boyfriend- But between Noah´s jam-packed schedule, less-than-welcoming bandmates, and threatening messages from jealous fans, Penny wonders whether she´s really cut out for life on tour. She can´t help but miss her family, her best friend Elliot, and her blog, “Girl Online.” Can Penny learn to balance life and love on the road, or will she lose everything in pursuit of the perfect summer?
Story
Penny goes on tour with Noah. Since weeks she is looking forward to this, is nervous and as clumsy as ever. At first, everything looks fine. But then she loses her cell phone, and the real tour life kicks in and things aren´t that fun as she thought they would be. And when she finds herself being blackmailed and a huge fight with Noah happens, Penny has enough and does the only thing she knows to do: calling Elliot.

Style
From Penny´s point of view, the reader experiences how life on tour looks like, how hopes and dreams can be crushed within minutes, and that sometimes the way itself can bring the right direction your life should go. Because what happens on tour lets Penny see what she wants to become for the rest of her life. And when she finally gets to know the truth about the person who blackmailed her and Elliot, she discovers how strong her inner strength really is.

Zoe Sugg writes in an easy to read way, her language is plain and uncomplicated and in some ways very sweet. No, there is no kitsch in it, even though some of the scenes are very close to it. And with Elliot and Alex comes a wonderfully romantic scene that turns out to be the perfect end for this novel.

Characters
Penny is as clumsy as we know her from Girl Online, the first book, and as sweet as always. She misses Noah very much and looks forward to the two weeks where she will join him on his tour. Berlin, Paris, Rome, and some other cities are ahead of her, where they both will have time to do some sightseeing – at least that´s what Penny believes. But Noah has less and less time for his girlfriend, and every promise he makes, he can´t keep. So it is no wonder, that one day Penny freaks out and they have their first huge fight. And when she figures out, that Blake wants more than only her friendship and she has to learn that Noah doesn´t believe her, she´s devastated and fly´s back home.

Conclusion
What a wonderful and nice written novel. But let me tell you this right away: you´re in the wrong place if you´re looking for a story that goes any deeper than the entertaining level. Yes, it will become profound in what Penny thinks and believes, and yes, there are some scenes where it goes a bit deeper than expected. But all in all this novel is simply said wonderful entertainment; nothing more and nothing less.

Happy reading

  1. I think sometimes you need something that is just simply entertaining -- those books definitely hit the spot too, you know?
