Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga´s Reviews and is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical stores or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks!

I am also connecting with Bought Borrowed & Bagged in homage of Barron´s Books & Baubles from Karen Marie Moning´s smash hit series, Fever, hosted by Braine at Talk Supe. This was one crazy week when it comes to buying books and reading. Some books arrived broken at my place and I have no chance getting them replaced within a few days since their out of stock and won´t be getting it in before the end of November. So I have a book at home, which is somehow broken and I have either to pay the full price for it or I send it back and have to wait many, many weeks before I´ll be able to read it. Sometimes it really sucks to order over a certain bookseller here in Germany.
Edit:
After I talked this morning with a very friendly and kind agent at the customer service of the German bookseller, I am now getting a new copy of The Reader by the beginning of next week. So I am back in the happy mood & pray that it will be ok.

Another book I was supposed to get this week was Empire of Storms. Unfortunately - for god knows what reason - the book hasn´t arrived at the bookstore as it was supposed to do and so I received an email in which I got informed that I will have to wait approximately until November 2016. How annoying is that?

So my STS/BBB, this time, will be shorter than planned. Again: Annoying.
But hey, means one of my next STS/BBB will be a lot longer than planned; right? *laugh* I got to get some sort of laughter out of this damn situation and when that means black humor, so be it!

The Reader by Traci Chee

Sefia lives her life on the run. After her father is viciously murdered, she flees to the forest with her aunt Nin, the only person left she can trust. They survive in the wilderness together, hunting and stealing what they need, forever looking over their shoulders for new threats. But when Nin is kidnapped, Sefia is suddenly on her own, with no way to know who´s taken Nin or where she is. Her only clue is a strange rectangular object that once belonged to her father, something she comes to realize is a book. Though reading is unheard of in Sefia´s world, she slowly learns, unearthing the book´s closely guarded secrets, which may be the key to Nin´s disappearance and discovering what really happened the day her father was killed. With no time to lose, and the unexpected help of swashbuckling pirates and an enigmatic stranger, Sefia sets out on a dangerous journey to rescue her aunt, using the book as her guide. In the end, she discovers what the book had been trying to tell her all along: Nothing is as it seems, and the end of her story is only the beginning.

An Early And Surprising Birthday Gift From A Publisher

Erika Mustermann – The Secret Life Of The Known Average German by Bettina Peters

We all have heard of her: Erika Mustermann. But who is this mysterious woman, which stands for the German woman par excellence? In this book, she tells her story. A story which is anything but ordinary. Midlife-crisis, a garden gnome and no control. This wonderful fictitious autobiography lets you laugh tears and shows you how we Germans – according to the statistics – really tick.

Happy reading

  2. The Reader looks really good. I just wish I could read faster, so I can get to all these wonderful books quickly!!! I'm not very good at patience, as you can see. I'm glad the German bookseller was able to fix the problem is a relatively short amount of time. Have a great week.

  4. Good grief, November 2016?! Are they gluing and stitching the pages together themselves, one by one? I hope you get it before then, Vi! On a positive note, I thought The Reader was absolutely beautiful. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
