Paper Party by Erin Watt

Friday, March 30, 2018
I wanted to read this novel since the moment I got aware of that there was one about Gideon. But to be honest, the platform this novel was originally published, isn´t really my thing.

Thoughts

Don´t know why, but I rather read a book in a physical form, or I wait until it comes out as such.

Miracle On 5th Avenue by Sarah Morgan

Thursday, March 29, 2018
Usually, I´d say isn´t it a bit weird to read a Christmas novel at the begin of Spring? And normally I´d say yes, it is. But reading a Sarah Morgan novel makes you forget what time of year it is in real life. And with the cold and snowflakes swirling around outside my window, who cares anyway.

What better place to celebrate than in snow-kissed Manhattan? What she didn´t expect was to find the penthouse still occupied by its gorgeous – and mysterious – owner. Bestselling crime writer Lucas Blade is having the nightmare before Christmas. With a deadline and the anniversary of his wife´s death looming, he´s isolated himself in his penthouse with only his grief for company. He wants no interruptions, no decorations and he certainly doesn´t appreciate being distracted by his beautiful, bubbly new housekeeper. But when the blizzard of the century leaves Eva snowbound in his apartment, Lucas starts to open up to the magic she brings …

Thoughts

And with the fact in mind, that I like to read a series in chronological order, that is if I KNOW that it is a series, I had to read this book now.

Die Legende Von Shikanoko II by Lian Hearn

It is always a special read when reading a Lian Hearn book. The poetry in her language, the way she describes things, how she brings the different lifestyle of Asia alive and makes you a part of it.

Her writing-style maybe not for everyone – but for me always a good choice to spend some hours reading.

Auf Ewig Mein by Eva Völler

I was soooo happy when I found this beauty in my mailbox! After reading the first part of this trilogy I was eager to see how things would go on with the Time School. And Anna and her friends, of course, too. If this book would have an English edition, the title could be Forever my.

Thoughts

I am so glad that this trilogy is keeping its dust jacket style. The design is just beautiful and the connection to the novel itself is done in a great way.

Blog Ahead Mini March 2018 – Sign-Up

Monday, March 19, 2018
This challenge is hosted by Anna over at Herding Cats & Burning Soup and is all about getting some posts done and scheduled in advance, about getting a bit of a buffer for your blog and yourself, ´cause sometimes blogging can become a bit overwhelming and stressful.

So having some posts already done can give you the space you probably need for things that come up out of the blue. And with the support of other bloggers, it promises some fun along the way.

Mystery Blogger Award

Sunday, March 18, 2018
Last November I´ve got nominated by Eram @Literary Tea With ER for The Mystery Blogger Award. Some weeks before that, we met over on Twitter, and for some unknown reasons, Eram decided to nominate me.

Thank you Eram for thinking of me, and sorry for the long wait. But I guess it isn´t too bad for you since you are taking a time out from blogging due to your exams. Wish you all the best for them.

And no, I don´t have an explanation why it took me so long to write my post about this award.

Buns by Alice Clayton

Friday, March 16, 2018
First, I have to admit, that I am not as excited about the cover, as I was when I saw the one Nuts had. Sure, those visible buns are quite nice to look at. But I am missing that little dreamlike flair, the two first covers were showing, and the kind of mischievous feeling I always get when I look at those two *grin*

Clara Morgan is living the dream if you call rebranding hotels desperate for a new life and running any kind of marathon a dream. Which she does. But the career she loves and the races that keep her adrenaline pumping have kept her too busy to put down any roots. Growing up in foster care, she´s never established traditions of her own, which may be why she´s fascinated by the rituals that generations-old family resorts are known for. She´s especially interested in Bryant Mountain House, and not just for their secret recipe for the yummy, gooey, can´t-get-enough-of Hot Cross Buns …
Archie Bryant, the man with the Buns, is fifth generation and one-day-owner of the charming yet run-down Bryant Mountain House in Bailey Falls, New York. He´s determined to save his family´s legacy from the wrecking-ball the old-fashioned way - by gritting his teeth and doing what needs to be done. There´s no way Archie will be influenced by the hotel-branding expert his father brought in to turn one hundred and fifty years of tradition on its head just to attract a faster, younger, slicker crowd. But when Clara´s ideas start bringing in new, paying customers, Archie can´t deny that she may have just given him a shot at keeping his resort open.

Thoughts

The last book of the Hudson Valley trilogy. A well-written novel, but not as great as the other two have been. Wanna know why?

Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning

Wednesday, March 14, 2018
The cover of the German edition caught my interest about ten years ago. Oh yes, it´s that long that I´ve read this series *smile* It was dark, mysterious, promising and arcane - all at once. You can see it at the end of my review.

When her sister is murdered, leaving a single clue to her death – a cryptic message on Mac´s cell phone – Mac journeys to Ireland in search of answers. The quest to find her sister´s killer draws her into a shadowy realm where nothing is as it seems, where good and evil wear the same treacherously seductive mask. She is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to learn how to handle a power she had no idea she possessed – a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae. As Mac delves deeper into the mystery of her sister´s death, her every move is shadowed by the dark, mysterious Jericho, a man with no past and only mockery for a future. As she begins to close in on the truth, the ruthless Vlane – an alpha Fae who makes sex an addiction for human women – closes in on her. And as the boundary between worlds begins to crumble, Mac´s true mission becomes clear: find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book – because whoever gets to it first holds nothing less than complete control of the very fabric of both worlds in their hands.

Thoughts

With her Fever series, the author brings you close to a world in which elements are the most important thing.

Fallen Heir by Erin Watt

Friday, March 09, 2018
After I had so much fun reading the third book, I definitely had to read this one too. It is in the typical style the author duo has, and which makes them unique in their very own way. But I also discovered, that I wasn´t as entertained, as I was while reading the other books. Well …

Thoughts

No doubt, this novel has its very own way to throw its reader into a WTF-emotion. But the novel itself wasn´t as fun or entertaining to read as I had expected.
