Stacking The Shelves #12

Saturday, July 09, 2016

is hosted by Tynga´s Reviews and is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Since the last time I posted an STS I had one hell of a great week. Not only that I got the fantastic news that I will receive some pre-ordered books sooner than scheduled, I also won a few giveaways during a book launch party on Facebook.
Well, part of them are still on their way to me, so I will write about them in one of my next STS´s, but one win I already got: The Colony.
The brand new book by Kathleen Groger, a US author I don´t know yet, but hopefully will soon get to know through her work.

The other book I got, Ein einziges Geheimnis (which, I guess would be best translated as One Single Secret) I received after weeks of confusion because two publishers have bounded here in Germany and with that association their websites changed (for the worse!) and their organization of how to handle reviewer requests, too. So after weeks of patient waiting and hoping that I would get it (otherwise I would have bought it – that´s for sure!) it finally arrived and I am sooo happy to have it now in my hands. I just LOVE the cover, the colors and am digging right into the plot.

After All In it is the second book of Simona Ahrnsted´s famous The Heiress Trilogy, and as far as I know, only available in German and some other languages but not English.

The Colony by Kathleen Groger

Trust no one. Never go out in the dark. Always have a weapon. Sixteen-year-old Val lives by these three rules etched on her arm. Her rules and her gun are the only things standing between her and assimilation by hordes of human-looking aliens she calls Raspers. By day, Val gathers supplies. By night, she hides and wishes she could go back in time … before her family died … before the annihilation … before the Raspers began stalking her and demanding she join their collective. But when the Raspers attack in broad daylight, the truth becomes startlingly clear. They´re evolving. A fellow survivor crashes into Val´s life. Adam´s full of charm and promises – like rumors of a safe haven – but there´s something wrong. He´s survived with no supplies, no weapons … no plans. Time is running out. With the formula for survival shifting around her, Val must decide how many rules she´s willing to break to escape the Colony.

Ein einziges Geheimnis by Simona Ahrnstedt

They couldn´t be any more different.
Alexander de la Grip, Sweden’s Jet set-Prince, who´s known for only two things: his good looks and his women stories. And Isobel Sørensen, a passionate doctor who risks her life in dangerous crisis regions to help other people.
They live in different worlds. And there is nothing that connects them.
But when Isobel´s help organization Medpax all of the sudden faces the financial collapse, their ways cross. Because now Isobel needs what Alexander has abundant: Money.
The closer she gets to know Alexander, the more it becomes clear, that behind the façade of the rich playboy hides another man. A man who spends his nights with sex and parties to escape the cruel emptiness inside him.
And soon it is impossible for Isobel to stay away from him.
