Genuine Lies is a wonderful novel that I now can call my own *YAY*. Secrets, lies, beautiful women and dangerous men are among the material the author used to write a thrilling story about the glittering world of Hollywood. No doubt, her early books are a bit different from those, she wrote in recent years. And yet there is nothing you can´t enjoy. Tension, love, and passion are only a few things, you´ll find here.

Eve Benedict is the last of the movie goddesses, a smoky-voiced sex symbol with two Oscars, four ex-husbands, and a legion of lovers to name. There is no secret, no scandals she doesn´t know. Now Eve has decided to write her memories – no holds barred. All Hollywood begs her not to. But Eve has her reasons … Julia Summers is the biographer Eve has handpicked to tell her story. Transported from her quiet life in Connecticut to glitzy Beverly Hills, Julia hates the limelight but loves her work – and the home it built for the ten-year-old son she´s raising alone. How can she refuse this chance of a lifetime? But Eve´s elegantly sexy stepson, Paul Winthrop, will challenge Eve´s determination to tell her story – and Julia´s resolve to guard her heart. And as Julia learns just how far Eve´s enemies will go to keep her book from publication, she also discovers that Eva has one last, dark secret to share. It is one that will change Julia´s life – and could cut it brutally short.
Story
Julia Summers accepts the offer, to write the book about Eve Benedict´s life and fame. But with that offer come some conditions. Julia and her son have to move to California, to get in close touch with Hollywood´s biggest name. But the more Julia can listen to Eve and the men and women she interviews for this book, the more she also is in danger. Someone wants to keep her from publishing the book and not all of them are playing nice.

Style
The book starts with a scene where Julia gets asked a question she refuses to answer and instead becomes furious. The next page you are all of the sudden in Connecticut, where snow is falling and Julia has to deal with her feelings, sorrow, and what it would mean to move for some time to the other side of the country.

From there the novel unfolds and shows the glittering life of Hollywood, that the rich and famous have secrets to hide and that some of them aren´t willing to let them become public. Oh yes, some of them know how to protect their secrets and stop at nothing. Nora Roberts´s writing style is soft, sensitive, and decent. She knows exactly how to catch the reader´s eye, how to grow the right amount of tension without losing the actual tone of this novel.

Characters
Eve is a real diva. She knows how to manipulate others to get what she wants how she wants it. And she for sure needs to have everything and anything under control. She wants control of how her biography is written, what needs to be in it and doesn´t really care that Julia has her own way and that her style is the reason why she´s so famous for her books. The scene, in which Julia makes her point clear and gives Eve the choice whether they continue or not, is fantastic. Eve´s sarcasm, her irony and her way to see life and to live it are astonishing and frightening at the same time.

Paul is a man I loved from the very first moment he appeared. Strong, handsome, down to earth, and with a huge heart. He protects what is his, but he also knows how to stand up against Julia without losing his status as a man. And how he treats Brandon is just great.

Conclusion
Absolutely beautiful and great to read. Two worlds crush together and morals, loyalty, and love are what count most. I highly recommend it.

Happy reading
