Waiting On Wednesday #10 – Cream Of The Crop by Alice Clayton

is a weekly event hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine. This meme is a place that spotlights upcoming releases that we´re eagerly anticipating with pure joy. For my tenth WoW, I thought I need a book that not only promises a lot of fun but also has a fantastic cover design as well. I didn´t need to look around for long. The second book in Alice Clayton´s The Hudson Valley series seemed to be the right choice. I just loooove the cover, though I am no fan of pink or rose-tone, here it matches just perfect.

And after the great fun, I had during reading Nuts, I think I will have even more with this one.

Manhattan´s It Girl, Natalie Grayson, has it all: she´s a hot exec at a leading advertising firm, known industry-wide for her challenging and edgy campaigns. She´s got a large circle of friends, a family that loves her dearly, and her dance card is always full with handsome eligible bachelors. What else could a modern gal-about-town wish for? The answer, of course, is … cheese.

Nathalie´s favorite part of each week is spending Saturday morning at the Union Square Farmer´s Market, where she indulges her love of all things triple cream. Her favorite booth also indulges her love of all things handsome. Oscar Mendoza, owner of the Bailey Falls Creamery and purveyor of the finest artisanal cheeses the Hudson Valley has to offer, is tall, dark, mysterious, and a bit oblivious. Or so she thinks. But that doesn´t stop Natalie from fantasizing about her size of his, ahem, milk can.

Waiting On Wednesday #9 – And I Darken by Kiersten White

is a weekly event hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine. This meme is a place that spotlights upcoming releases that we´re eagerly anticipating with pure joy. I know I am quite late with my WoW post this time. But I had all day craftsmen in the house and chaos and loud hammering as well. Not to mention the dirt and dust (why has dust to be everywhere?!) so there was no way of writing my post earlier.

And then, I have to be honest, I´d almost forgot. The book I can´t wait to get my hands on is And I Darken by Kiersten White. I don´t know exactly anymore where I had spotted it in the first place, all I know is, it was another blog (but I can´t remember the name – Mea culpa!) and fell right away in love with the cover motive. Anyways, I saw the cover, knew I had to have it, and when a few days ago the price dropped quite a bit placed my pre-order. Needless to say that I am very eager to read it – hope it is as good as the back text promises.

And I Darken

No one expects a princess to be brutal.
And Lada Dragwlya likes it that way. Ever since she and her gentle younger brother, Radu, were wrenched from their homeland of Wallachia and abandoned by their father to be raised in the Ottoman courts, Lada has known that being ruthless is the key to survival. She and Rady are doomed to act as pawns in a vicious game, an unseen sword hovering over their every move. For the lineage that makes them special also makes them targets.
Lada despises the Ottomans and bides her time, planning her vengeance for the day when she can return to Wallachia and claim her birthright. Rada longs only for a place where he feels safe. And when they meet Mehmed, the defiant and lonely son of the sultan, Radu feels that he´s made a true friend - and Lada wonders if she´s finally found someone worthy of her passion.
But Mehmed is heir to the very empire that Lada has sworn to fight against - and that Radu now considers home. Together, Lada, Radu, and Mehmed form a toxic triangle that strains the bonds of love and loyalty to the breaking point.

Stacking The Shelves #10

is hosted by Tynga´s Reviews and is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical stores or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

For about two years I am a huge fan of the Hannah Peters series by the German author Thomas Thiemeyer. In the focus is the archeologist Hannah Peters, a tough but still female woman who sees her job as a passion. I started that series with the book Valhalla, not knowing then that it was part of a series and the third book of it. I was so thrilled during reading, that I started to buy the others as well. In the meantime, the publisher redesigned the covers into a more modern style and Babylon is the newest out of it.

I noticed Chevy Stevens for the first time when I read her thriller That Night. What an amazing book! And when I saw that her newest Those Girls was about to get published in Germany, I had to have it. A few weeks ago it arrived at my house and I enjoyed it already.

Sometimes it happens that a publisher is sending me a book without giving me any notice up-front. I don´t mind, but I found out, that most of the books I received that way, were not matching my taste in books.

Bay of Sighs by Nora Roberts

To celebrate the rise of their new queen, three goddesses of the moon created three stars: one of fire, one of ice, one of water. But then they fell from the sky, putting the fate of all worlds in danger. And now three women and three men join forces to pick up the pieces …
Mermaid Annika is from the sea, and it is there, she must return to after her quest to find the stars. New to this world, her purity and beauty are nothing less than breathtaking, as is her graceful athleticism, which her five new friends discovered when they retrieved the Fire Star. Now, through space and time, traveler Sawyer King has brought the guardians to the island of Capri, where the Water Star is hidden. And as he watches Annika in her element, he finds himself drawn to her joyful spirit. But Sawyer knows that if he allows her into his heart, no compass could ever guide him back to solid ground … And in the darkness, their enemy broods. She lost one star to the guardians, but there is still time for blood to be spilled – the mermaid´s in the water and the traveler´s on the land. For she has forged a dangerous new weapon. Something deadly and unpredictable. Something human.

Eighteen years later, they are still trying to forget what happened that summer. But when one of the sisters goes missing, followed closely by her niece, they are pulled back into the past. This book I received just like that

Stacking The Shelves #9

is hosted by Tynga´s Reviews and is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical stores or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks!

As you might remember, I already put my review to Blue Lily, Lily Blue online on my blog. A few weeks back I found the first part of the Raven Cycle at my town library IN the THRILLER section! Can you believe it? I went to one of the two great ladies who take care of everything and told her that that was wrong and asked if she knew that there were two other books out already. She was surprised, said no, but she would, of course, order the other two and asked me for their titles. I went home with the first one in my big bag and got, to my utter surprise, only a few days later info, that I could pick them up because she had put both on hold for me.

Yes, those two ladies do a great job and I can´t thank them enough for what they always try do make possible, even if it means that they have to do a lot of extra work to make us readers happy.

The day when I found out that Cassandra Clare was writing about Emma Carstairs, the young girl I was very impressed with during the plot of City of Heavenly Fire was a happy day for me. I wrote about those exiting news in the forum where I write my German reviews for and where I had already made the reservation for the City of – series and already reviewed. I had kept the reservation in case something like that would happen; you never know *smile*. And god knows I am not giving up that reservation by choice *smile*.

Now to have the book here in my hands, to see how Emma is dealing with everything that happened in the five years since the ending of City of Heavenly Fire and to see how Mark is or Jules and the kids, that is just fantastic.

Certainties can unravel.

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

It´s been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning, but a young woman bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging her losses.

If only her heart didn´t lead her in treacherous directions ...
Making things even more complicated, Julian´s brother Mark - who was captured by the faeries five years ago - has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind - and they need the Shadowhunters´help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn´t recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them?
Will faeries really allow it?

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renée Ahdieh

In a land ruled by a murderous boy-king, each dawn brings heartache to a new family. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, is a monster. But something she never expected begins to happen: Khalid is nothing like what she´d imagined him to be. This monster is a boy with a tormented heart. Incredibly, Shahrzad finds herself falling in love. How is this possible? It´s an unforgivable betrayal. Still, Shahrzad has come to understand all is not as it seems in this palace of marble and stone. She resolves to uncover whatever secrets lurk and, despite her love, be ready to take Khalid´s life as retribution for the many lives he´s stolen. Can their love survive this world of stories and secrets?
