What a fun and action-filled read it was! Wow. I had a great time reading it and with Aurora, the author duo has created a great main character among all the other figures in this novel. Cannot wait to read the second book Aurora burning.

The year is 2380. Tyler Jones has just completed his training at Aurora Academy and is about to assemble his first team. The coolest and best squad a senior Aurora Academy graduate has ever seen! But on the eve of the team selection, everything is different. Tyler CAN. NOT. SLEEP. He goes on a forbidden excursion and comes across a wrecked spaceship in interdimensional space. The only survivor onboard: Aurora, a girl who has been in cryosleep for the past 200 years. Perhaps it would have been better not to wake her. War threatens to break out – and his team, of all people, is supposed to prevent it. Ouuups. Don´t panic!(personal translation by ©Vi at Inkvotary).
Aurora is looking forward to starting her life at Octavia III. But when she comes out of the cryosleep, she must learn that she isn´t where she thought she´d be. That she´d slept for 200 years and that the world she once knew, doesn´t exist anymore. Tyler is the only person she somehow trusts and with him, she goes on a journey she never thought she would be a part of.

What an ingenious mix of humor, sarcasm, irony, and a great story. For me, one of the reading highlights in 2021. And yes, I am aware that the year is still young. Aurora Rising makes every fantasy-heart beat faster and made me aware again that nothing, absolutely nothing, should be taken for granted.

With this book, Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff show once again how great they are in the team and with how much heart and soul they pursue their passion. Okay, the scenes on one planet, were a bit scary with all the botany everywhere. But still wonderful to read and incredibly well integrated into the overall story. Only, in the end, I felt sorry for what happened to one of the characters. Whether it was necessary or not, I shed a few tears.

Aurora is a wonderful figure who has excited me from the start. Her despair, her fear, and her hope that things will turn out for the better after all and that she will find out what she needs to know captivated and delighted me from the first moment. How she deals with the situation, never gives up and for whatever reason trusts a person she does not know and who is still familiar, was exciting and beautiful to watch. With Aurora, the writing duo has created an absolutely wonderful figure who will hopefully go on many adventures.

What a fantastic read. The long wait was worth it here. The mixture of humor, sarcasm, irony, and action-packed story is simply great! My absolute reading recommendation.

Happy reading

Deutsche Rezension

Meine absolute Leseempfehlung.

Amie Kaufman grew up just one block from her local library and took full advantage of that fact. She spent her childhood summers re-creating with her sister their favorite books by camping in the back yard, mapping their neighborhood, climbing trees, and kissing the Blarney stone six times, thoroughly cementing her gift of the gab. She graduated with honors degrees in history, literature, and law, and a master´s degree in conflict resolution. Today she´s a full-time writer and lives with her husband and her rescue dog in Melbourne, Australia.
