With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it. And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Caffeinated Reviewer and Reading Reality and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Stacking The Shelves #203

No new books this week. I am a good girl.

Sunday Post #160

My week started with the disappointing result of the major vote last Sunday. Sad, but I am not sure if I will be able to see the elected one as “my major”. Well …

Tuesday, I noticed that despite everything looking very spring-like, the air still smelled like winter. And voila, the weather forecast told me, that we would get for the rest of the week freezing temperatures and snow or sleet. I tried to write and edit some text, but with my neighbor's hammer and saw the wood of his new pergola and later covering its roof it was near impossible for me to work. I could even hear him through the closed window.

On Wednesday, I got literally wet feet while walking to the nearest supermarket. A mix of rain and snow came down and back home I found out that my shoes had a broken sole. No wonder my feet had been soaking wet *Sigh* I got myself dry and after some hot tea, I hope that I won´t get a cold.

The next day, Thursday, I edited some blog posts, tried to work on some texts, and thought about my nutrition plan and how to cope with the rising energy & food prices. The German government has asked us, to do what we can to save energy, electrical power, and gas in our daily life. So, as a result, we turned down the heat so that our scale now shows two instead of three, took out our winter clothes again, and looked over the nutrition plan to see if we can change it a bit more. I alone can eat a big bowl of salad for lunch, but I noticed that I can´t do it when the temperature outside is minus seven. On the other hand, I also don´t want to start the stove just to make myself some fried eggs. Not with the current energy prices in mind. Yep, life has changed a lot since that pathetic man has started his war.

Friday morning the world was covered in snow. No matter where I looked, it was white. I was in a weird mood and instead of starting to sow some seeds in the already prepared egg cartons in my kitchen, I did none of it and instead tried to read and get some work done. Not very successful. The turning of the clock has ripped me off the last bit of energy I had left and now I absolutely struggle to get anything done. And with all the white outside it feels rather strange to know that we have now “summertime”. Or is it just me?

On Saturday I went to the supermarket for some fresh fruits, veggies, some cereals, and (hopefully) a bottle of sunflower oil. Well, that shelf was completely empty. I asked one of the staff there if they had some more in stock and, if yes, if he could be so kind and get me one. Usually, it works and the people I ask go and look what they can do. This time it was a bit different. His answer was like a dampener, though he was kind and very polite. Only half of what they order every day gets delivered and that delivery must be put into the store before they open. And with every news station reporting for the last two and a half days now, that the food prices for meat, butter, and sausage will go up at least twenty or fifty percent from next Monday on, people started again what we call “hamster purchases”. It is insane! After a short chat with one of the women from the butcher's department, I bought a pair of sausages. The last pair for a long time. I also discovered my passion for apple juice. Don´t know why, but I bought some tetra packs, and one was emptied within a day.

Today, Sunday, I woke up late after an almost sleepless night. My neighborhood had been very loud and with the clouded sky, it is a weird atmosphere. My daffodils are about to bloom, which makes me happy.

How was your week? Stay safe and healthy.

Happy reading

  1. The weather's been much the same here- cold and wet. An inauspicious beginning to spring haha! And things sure have changed, haven't they? Hopefully this conflict ends soon...

    Love that pic!

  2. I hope it is easier and you find the things you want. I buy things when I can get them so I have a small stockpile, not huge amounts of anything just a backup to the one we are using for things like ketchup or salad dressing. I hope you get warmer weather soon. I am enjoying having some spring blossoms.

    1. Well, some things are unfortunately limited per household at the supermarket nowadays. Due to energy and logistical challenges, among some other things *sigh*
