With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it. And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

Last Sunday I did the usual routine. I visited some blogs, slept long, tried to adjust to the hot temperatures outside, and watered the plants in the evening.
On Monday I paid some bills, took care of my household (where does all the yellow dust come from?), and watered the plants in the evening. The freshly planted lavender still looks good, and I hope it stays that way.
Tuesday and Wednesday, it was supposed to get hot again, and indeed, Wednesday was the hottest day of the week. I took care of the bio bin and filled it completely with the masses of dry grass and other garden waste. Somehow, I am a bit anxious that all that stuff could self-ignite at some point and that would have been fatal with the half-dead fir tree and the wood sculpture that stands close to it. Luckily, everything went well.
Thursday evening the weather forecast predicted some severe rain showers in our area. We had about five rain drops coming down. Ah well…
It didn´t look much different on Friday, with all-day sun and blue skies instead of the predicted rain all day. What's the matter with the meteorologists? And while I was watering the plants again, I noticed that some wooden slats had fallen from a balcony railing onto freshly planted lavender. Not my balcony, but still annoying. Thank God the lavender survived. The hole in the railing is now twice as big as before. Damn.
Saturday, we had the perfect summer day. Blue skies, the sun was shining, and a cooling wind made the warm air a really lovely experience. I enjoyed the weather and went in the afternoon into the garden. The fresh planted lavender is visible dying, so I will have to find another place for it *sigh* I cut out the marigold. Not sure if I will see them next year again. I hope not. As cheerful and bright as the flowers look. Once they've faded, you must trim them and that's a lot of work. I took some pictures of the front yard. That spot looks terrible, and I am thinking about how I can change it without putting too much effort and money into it.
Today, Sunday, I did not do much. After an almost sleepless night, I slept long and enjoyed the cooler weather. The sun is still shining bright, but with the wind, you don´t feel the 33°C we had outside today. Why can´t every summer day be like this? I mean who needs those freaking hot temperatures anyway? Not me, that´s for sure *lol* I listened to two more chapters of The Becoming and took some flower pictures.

DeleteMaybe some flowering ground cover shrubs would suit that area? I’ve no idea what plant that might mean in Germany, but I’m sure the nursery can advise something. Lavender is usually pretty hardy, just keep it watered and it should come back.

Thank you for your kind help. I took the lavender out today and planted it again in a new spot with lots of sun. The next few days will show if I was successful.
