With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it. And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Caffeinated Reviewer and Reading Reality and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Sunday Post #179

Last Sunday I did the usual routine. I slept long, visited some blogs, read a book, and watered the plants in the evening.

After an almost sleepless night, the new week started with what I call an awkward routine. I tried to keep reading the book I am way overdue with, took care of my household, and after that I went to the supermarket to get the things I couldn´t last week. Back home I checked the garden and made plans for the front yard. It is a sad view. Remember the beautiful rosemary that was planted in the right field of the front yard? Well, that beauty is dead. I took the picture in April 2022. I noticed that I was able to smell it, and it looked so beautiful that I simply had to take a picture. Turns out, it was the last. My Lady-neighbor decided to dig it out after she noticed that the plant was literally dead.

Tuesday was another day without rain despite the weather forecasts' prediction of severe rainfall and heavy winds. None of it happened. I created a quick composter broth by using a cube of yeast, sugar, and about three liters of lukewarm water. And while the mixture had to dissolve and combine for over two hours, I went shopping. In the afternoon I went with a filled watering can into the garden and watered the compost with it. Hopefully, that will help to restart it.

The next day, Wednesday, I cleaned my bathroom, posted a Waiting on Wednesday post, and went on with my plans for the front yard. With the very humid but dry weather, I saw no point in going down and taking out all the weeds, but I started to draw some sketches to see if the picture in my head could work down there.

Thursday, I had an unpleasant encounter at my door. A woman from one of the biggest telecom companies in German tried to make me believe that her company was taking over the one I have currently a contract for TV, landline, and internet with. Are you kidding me?! Well, long story short, I didn´t buy any word she said. Instead, I called customer service and told them what just had happened. They confirmed that it wasn´t true and that they knew about the problem.

I posted a new review on Friday and walked again to the supermarket. These days it isn´t easy to get all the fresh veggies and fruits or other items I need. And things that are on sale are either not in stock or in a quantity that is sold out very quickly. And when you ask them about it, they tell you to come back tomorrow. It sucks! But what can I do? The situation with the Ukraine war still impacts our economy although the shelves are now filled with sunflower oil or any other oil you want. But the quantity you can buy per household is still limited. The heck with that. After that, I changed into my garden clothes and started cleaning the front yard. After about an hour it finally started to rain. At some point, it became too wet for my taste, and I went back up.

After another sleepless night because of the very foggy weather forecast (guess they lost their ability to predict the weather) which said that it would rain all night and day, which it didn´t, I got up early, took care of my household, and made another trip to the local supermarket. I finally could buy the other items I was looking for all week long *sigh* In the afternoon it was so cloudy and windy, that I decided to work in the garden again. I removed all the faded marigolds and cut back my Jupiter´s beard. And saw that some new little Jupiter´s beard is growing in various spots, which made me happy. And I found out that the little animal I had thought was a hummingbird, is in fact a butterfly. For a butterfly it is big, but it looks beautiful. It is called Taubenschwänzchen and I was able to take a picture. You can see the butterfly in the left upper section of the picture below. A bit blurry, sorry.

Today, Sunday, I did not do much. After an almost sleepless night, I slept long and enjoyed the cooler weather. The sun is still shining bright, but the wind feels damn good. I watched a bit of TV, downloaded some pictures for new posts, and finished this post while in the background the music of ADYA, a Belgium orchestra, is playing.

How was your week? Stay safe and healthy.

Happy reading

  1. Wow, that butterfly IS big. Nice pic! Sorry about the rosemary. And yes what is up with weather forecasts? They seem to be a little less reliable these days lol. We did get a ton of rain this week though. Finally.

    Be well this week! :)

  2. I'm sorry it is so much trouble to get things at the supermarket. I try to only go once in a week but often have a second trip because they are out of some things. The weather has been better here but they don't have plants yet for some things and I'm not going to do seeds.

    1. I would order things online too, if that would be an option here *sigh* The positive thing is, I don´t have to worry about my fitness *lol*
