With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it. And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Caffeinated Reviewer and Reading Reality and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Sunday Post #182

The past week was again one with very mixed emotions. I felt so restless, that I went Monday afternoon for a long walk which was more of a run. After that, I walked with my Trolley to the local supermarket for some fresh veggies and drink. I started a new book and watched some of the news coming from the UK.

During the night into Tuesday, I barely slept and read instead my book. Of course, in the early morning hours, I became tired and had to fight to stay awake *sigh* Turned upside down world… I had some phone calls during the day and after a quick break with some cold water, I went again for a long walk. Getting my thoughts cleared. And enjoying the crisp air and the rain that came down here and there.

On Wednesday I went over my plans for the front garden, changed a few things, and started cleaning my apartment. In the evening I had, again, some technical problems with my TV and I am getting to the point where I will throw out the entire box and get a new contract with a different company. It is so annoying!

After another sleepless night, I went into town for some errands at the bank. And because the bank and my doctor are in the same building, I went upstairs and around the corner and asked for some information concerning my annual cancer check. Due to some financial issues because of the pandemic, my health insurance has changed a few things, which means that they only pay every three years for the full cancer tests. Until last year, those tests had been free every year. Now every three. Ah well… If the result is negative, I am fine with that. After that, I went to the supermarket, got myself some new shoes which had been on sale, and bought some other stuff I needed. Back home I read, kept an eye on the life coverage at BBC news, and made plans for my birthday on Monday.

After a short night of sleep on Friday, I checked my bank account, noticed that I was gaining weight, which is not good, and took care of my laundry. I discovered in my new TV program a flyer from a clothing company I had never heard of and with the welcome gift and free delivery codes in it, I decided to order something. The lady at the customer service was very friendly and helpful but I didn´t like the fact that I had to pay for the call. Not much, but still.

The next day, Saturday, I slept long, made myself ready for a walk to the supermarket, and turned my paper bin upside down to find a clothes catalog *lol* Must have been a hilarious view, me opening that huge bin and turning it top to the ground, bottom in the air. At least, I found what I was looking for and went to the supermarket. And there I managed to correct a mistake that had happened two days earlier. The result was 3 Euros that went from one person to the other and now everybody is happy. I got back home just in time before the first heavy raindrops were falling down. It was also the start of the Apple weeks at lake Constance. Until 9th October, in that area, everything will be about apples.

Today, Sunday, I slept long and had a little breakfast with grapes, oats, and some yogurt. Later I collected and measured all ingredients I needed to bake a chocolate cake and shortly after that my apartment smelt deliciously. And while the cake was in the oven, I cleaned my Espresso machine. I haven´t used it all summer and had forgotten to take the water completely out so I had to fill the water tank about three times and let the entire machine run without making any coffee or espresso. The cocktail is ready, and I am planning on starting to celebrate my birthday from midnight on snuggled up in a cozy fleece sweater – it has become chilly outside – enjoying a peach cocktail, some chocolate cake even I can eat without problems, and a book called The Mystery of the Sorrowful Maiden by Kate Saunders. The fact, that for the rest of my life, my birthday will be the death day of my biological mother and the funeral day of the Queen is a bittersweet feeling now.

How was your week? Stay safe and healthy.

Happy reading

  5. Walking is great for clearing the head. I should do it more. And TV problems... ugh. I don't have cable anymore so the channels I get are pretty sketchy. I can stream, of course, but I usually only do that on my computer.

Happy birthday to you and I hope you're having a nice start to the week.
