At first, I had thought that this would be the end of the Green Mountain series, as it is called in Germany. Turns out, it isn´t. So, I hope that the next novel will be a real page-turner again and not the look-warm romance I was experiencing with this here. Either I am in a hole where no novel can go beyond average or this story just wasn´t for me. Sad, but usually Marie Force knows how to capture her reader's hearts. Not this time. At least not mine.

Story
Cabot likes Isabella very much. And the minute he hears that she´s had an accident and needs help, he is on his way to be there for her and with her. But while her family thinks that there is more between Isabella and Cabot, she knows that he is not ready for a new love. Although he seems to have feelings for her. So why not go on a trip to find out how things really are between them? Isabella knows it the second a figure from his past walks through the airport and everything seems to change – again.
Style
I usually like the gentle style with clear, easy-to-read language. Here I found him almost conservative and almost boring. I found the novel too encumbered with Cabot's idiotic behavior and thinking. This character was too stuck in the past for me, served every component that the kitsch box has to offer, and on the other hand, showed incredibly stupid behavior. It didn't help much that there were so many reunions with the other couples from previous volumes. However, at times there were far too many characters in the story, which made things a bit more complicated.
Characters
Isabella is an incredibly smart woman who sometimes seems almost precocious. Equipped with a seemingly limitless understanding of the problems and difficulties of others, she often completely forgets about her own well-being. But when, without warning, she also discovers the dark side of Cabot, she must decide how to protect not only herself from harm, but him as well.
The inner conflict that the main character shows in this novel is shown sensitively and patiently by the author, but on the other hand, the mood was too low for me. And that had a clear impact on the other characters. I'm also constantly wondering when Mia's mother will finally be held accountable for her criminal behavior. Because she walks around freely in this series without consequences and throws others into emotional problems. Not fair.
Conclusion
A solid novel, which unfortunately has a major weak point and therefore, seen from the logical side, could not convince me at all. This series is known for its soulful, romantic, and absolutely great characters. Unfortunately, not here. Too bad, but maybe the next part will be a page-turner for me again.

Stil
Der sanfte Stil mit der klaren, leicht zu lesenden Sprache gefällt mir normalerweise. Hier empfand ich ihn fast schon als bieder und beinahe langweilig. Mir war der Roman zu sehr mit dem idiotischen Verhalten und Denken von Cabot belastet. Diese Figur hing mir zu sehr in der Vergangenheit fest, bediente jegliche Komponente, die die Kitschkiste hergibt und zeigte auf der anderen Seite aber auch ein unglaublich dummes Verhalten. Da half es auch nicht viel, dass es so manches Wiedersehen mit den anderen Paaren aus vorherigen Bänden gab. Stellenweise tummelten sich aber auch viel zu viele Figuren in der Geschichte, was die Dinge etwas komplizierter machte.
Charaktere
Isabella ist eine unglaublich kluge Frau, die teilweise fast schon altklug erscheint. Ausgestattet mit einem grenzenlos erscheinenden Verständnis für die Probleme und Schwierigkeiten anderer, vergisst sie ihr eigenes Wohlergehen oftmals total. Als sie dann aber ohne Vorwarnung auch die dunkle Seite von Cabot kennenlernt, muss sie entscheiden, wie sie nicht nur sich selbst vor Schaden bewahren kann, sondern auch ihn.
Den inneren Konflikt, den die Hauptfigur in diesem Roman zeigt, wird zwar von der Autorin feinfühlig und geduldig gezeigt, auf der anderen Seite hing mir die Stimmung aber zu sehr in diesem Tief drin. Und das hatte deutliche Auswirkungen auf die anderen Figuren. Zudem frage ich mich ständig, wann endlich Mia´s Mutter für ihr kriminelles Verhalten zur Rechenschaft gezogen wird. Denn die wandelt in dieser Serie ohne Konsequenzen frei umher und stürzt andere in emotionale Probleme. Nicht fair.
Resultat
Ein solider Roman, der nur leider eine große Schwachstelle hat und mich daher von der logischen Seite hergesehen, so gar nicht überzeugen konnte. Dabei ist diese Serie für ihre gefühlvollen, romantisch angehauchten und durchaus großartigen Figuren bekannt. Hier leider nicht. Schade, aber vielleicht wird der nächste Teil ja wieder ein Pageturner für mich.
