With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it. And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Caffeinated Reviewer and Reading Reality and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Stacking The Shelves #261

A few days ago, I had quite a book pile in the mail.

Sunday Post #218

The last week was a bittersweet one. Last Friday it hit me out of the blue, that it would be the very first birthday in my life, where my dad wouldn´t be around although he is still here. But because of his dementia he wouldn´t give me a call or come over nor would I receive the usual birthday hug or get a kiss or a birthday gift. Good, I don´t care about the gift, that´s not important. But him not being around because of my stepmother, is bitter.

So, I did everything to make it easier, started last Friday by buying some stuff I usually don´t buy and enjoyed over the last weekend some drinks. Meaning, that I had one piccolo with a lot of orange juice. On Monday I had a lazy day and went for a long walk to deal with the strange mood I was in. Went pretty well. Later in the evening, I cooked myself some Spaghetti Bolognese and started celebrating the beginning of my birthday. At midnight, it hit me hard. No phone ringing, no texts, no nothing. Tuesday, my birthday, was a gorgeous day and it seemed almost surreal. Bright sunshine, blue skies, and the air was warm. It was bliss on one side and a very sad feeling on the other. And I asked myself how it could have gotten this far. It wasn´t easy to get over all those dark questions, to congratulate myself without becoming sullen. I read "Overkill" and enjoyed a roasted chicken with some potato salad, a piccolo, and a delicious Plum Datschi.

The rest of the week was a mix of rain, cold wind, sun, and blue skies. On Saturday I had such a bad guilty conscience, that I went after my trip to the supermarket, into the garden and planted some green bushes and a Hibiscus bush. Result: I have bad muscle soreness.

And how was your week?

Happy reading

  2. First of all, happy birthday to you! I'm sorry about your dad though. That must be awful and I'm sending friendly vibes your way. I hope you are having a nice weekend in spite of the situation.
