Waiting On Wednesday #57 – Reign Of The Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh

Wednesday, January 03, 2018
is a weekly event originally hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. This meme is a place that spotlights upcoming releases that we´re eagerly anticipating with pure joy.

For whatever reason Jill is not blogging since August 2016 but her meme is still going on. Hope everything is ok and she will be back soon! Until then, I am joining Tressa at Wishful Endings and her meme Can´t-Wait Wednesday.

I am not sure when I got aware of this book. The cover appeared one day on Twitter and though I am not very fond of skulls, the combination of color and motive fascinated me. This book might be completely out of my usual reading genre, and the author is totally new to me, but this is one of the books I am looking forward to in 2018.

Reign Of The Fallen
Author Sarah Glenn Marsh
Publishing Date January 23, 2018
Publisher Razorbill
Format Hardcover

Odessa is one of Karthia´s master necromancers, catering to the kingdom´s ruling Dead. Whenever a noble dies, it´s Odessa´s job to raise them by retrieving their soul from a dreamy and dangerous shadow world called the Deadlands. But there is a cost to being raised: The Dead must remain shrouded. If even a hint of flesh is exposed, a grotesque transformation begins, turning the Dead into terrifying, bloodthirsty Shades. A dramatic uptick in Shade attacks raises suspicions and fears around the kingdom. Soon, a crushing loss of one of her closest companions leaves Odessa shattered, and reveals a disturbing conspiracy in Karthia: Someone is intentionally creating Shades by tearing shrouds from the Dead – and training them to attack. Odessa is forced to contemplate a terrifying question: What if her magic is the weapon that brings the kingdom to its knees?

  1. It's been a while since I have read anything with necromancy in it, and this sounds like it will be a good one! Great pick.

    1. Seems that the author is kind of a new one. Not a debut author, but her work seems not very known - yet. Thanks for stopping by.
