The cover of the German edition looks so beautiful, that I just couldn´t resist. Usually, I am not a huge Cecelia Ahern fan, but this dilogy made me rethink. Now I am in love with her, at least when it comes to the author and writing children´s books or young adult novels. The first book Flawed was already not only a page-turner but also a very emotional and stirring read. Perfect is no exception and the author writes in a very open way about things that count most in life.

Celestine North lives in a society that demands perfection. After she was branded Flawed by a morality court, Celestine´s life has completely fractured all her freedoms gone. Since Judge Crevan has declared her the number one threat to the public, she has been a ghost, on the run with the complicated, powerfully attractive Carrick, the only person she can trust. But Celestine has a secret one that could bring the entire Flawed system to the ground. Judge Crevan is gaining the upper hand, and time is running out for Celestine. With tensions building, Celestine must make a choice: save only herself, or risk her life to save all the Flawed. And, most important of all, can she prove that to be human in itself is to be Flawed?
Story
Celestine carries a secret with her. And only Carrick and a few others know about it. Judge Crevan does everything to make sure, that her secret stays a secret and his hunt for her gets worse every day. But when Celestine figures out that she possesses a video that shows what really happened in that chamber that day, she is in even greater danger than ever before. Now she has not only to make sure that the public can see it, but she also has to be smarter and always a step ahead of the Judge and his court.

Style
This was the best Cecelia Ahern book I´ve ever read. She speaks through Celestine a moral truth, tells what being a human is all about, what love – the unconditional love of a family – means and shows that in a thrilling and sometimes very emotional and stirring novel that misses nothing. The world of the Flawed is a very strict one. Rules dictate how they have to live, eat, dress, and when where to be. For Celestine, it means being a Flawed is way more dangerous than for the others, because she knows something and has something, that no one else does. After she had to flee from the convention she was invited to, she lives hidden at her grandfather´s farm. But life there isn´t as wonderful as it has been during her childhood. The Whistleblowers are looking for her, chasing her and danger is around every corner.

Again the author has changed her tone, her writing style is very fast and diversified and you are thrown into a world where everything has to be perfect. And those, who can´t be that way, are marked. Told from Celestine´s view the reader is deep in every move that is now her life. You feel what she has to endure and to do and how she changes from minute to minute.

Characters
Celestine doesn´t want to be a leader. She sees herself as a normal girl, except for the fact that she is the only one who has that many marks on her body. But she refuses to play the game of the others, to be used by them. Sure, she learns that if no one stands up and fights, nothing will ever be changed. But why in the world has she to be that someone? On the other hand, she realizes also, that the way how she feels and thinks is different from all the others. She isn´t willing to play by the rules society dictates only because she did what she felt she had to do. Compassion and logic are all she wants to be able to feel.

The author shows with Celestine the main figure that is beyond everything I´ve seen so far. She has to learn very fast and very hard that she needs always to be a step ahead of the morality court and that she has to play smarter and better. So when she has no other choice but to be the leader of the Flawed she does it her way and shows that even a high judge is not perfect.

Conclusion
I was literally speechless when I was done with this book. Very emotional, very thrilling, and with a phenomenal good main figure. If you want to get to know the author from a different perspective, you´ve got to read this! Highly recommended.

Happy reading
