With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it. And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Tynga´s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Stacking The Shelves #52

Yesterday I went to the post office to finally get my package with The Cruel Prince inside. Only to find out at home that it was damaged! Called the bookstore and asked for a replacement, which will arrive next week. Hopefully. After all, I´ve heard about it, I decided to give this author another try. I wasn´t very fond of her book, The Darkest Part of the Forest, though I was intrigued by its German cover.

Sunday Post #9

I´ve got the sniffles. It is not bad, but annoying. Besides that, I had a very uneventful week. When it comes to not bookish things. Weather is playing games with us. One day cold and freezing with temperatures around zero and the ugliest weather you can imagine, the next we have up to 12 -15 degrees Celsius (about 53-59 degrees Fahrenheit) and the weather is as beautiful as it can be. Around town they had to fell some trees that were damaged by “Friederike” and everything looks now a bit different, but otherwise we are glad that things are back to normal again.

In the bookish area, I guess I am starting to work again with a publisher I quit working with last year. Over almost ten years I could ask my admin to ask them for books to review and the requested book was a few weeks later in my mailbox. Then a few years ago, the publisher started its own blogger portal (a very complicated one) and things were changing.

Besides the fact that one of their employees there had caused me some huge anger last year, I just saw no point in requesting books in the publisher´s own blogger portal when every request I placed got turned down.
We even had a huge discussion over on the publishers´ own FB group, where bloggers were expressing their disappointment about all those declines and that it made no sense at all to them (me included) to stay there as a registered blogger. I mean, I asked for eight books over a period of time of eight weeks. One approval was the result. Some bloggers even mentioned that they would rather cancel their registration with the publisher and instead buy all the books they wanted. During reading all those comments I went to that particular portal, logged myself in, and saw that a book I was looking for was displayed. I started a request and a few hours later I was totally flabbergasted when I saw that I GOT APPROVED.

So, now I am curious if and when that book will appear in my mailbox.

Besides that, I am still trying to write a review but somehow my brain isn´t willing. Everything I write gets deleted after a few minutes because everything reads like crap.  Therefore, I am a bit behind and new reviews are scarce goods on my blog at the moment.

    1. Hi Greg,
the thriller by Megan Miranda was a real surprise. If you can, read it! And yes, Holly Blacks new book is highly praised by many who love the author and that genre. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Oh I am sorry that your copy of The Cruel Prince was damaged. It is always annoying to receive the book in such condition. But at least you are getting it replaced. I hope you enjoy it. I have seen it around the blogosphere a lot.

Also, the problem with that publisher looks awful. I hope you settle down all the things soon.

  4. We've been having some crazy weather here, too! Very cold, but today it was in the 50s and we were able to go for a long walk! I hope everything gets straightened out with the publisher you're working with again.

  5. It sounds kind of tiring to be in a publisher group where the people who are supposed to get books out to bloggers make things too difficult! I hope you'll get your book really soon, Vi!
Your new books both look good - I hope you'll enjoy them.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    1. It is indeed tiring, Lexxie. Every publisher who runs a portal has different rules and requirements you have to follow and obey. Usually I don´t mind that, but sometimes it gets annoying. Thanks for your visit.

  6. Do glad that you were able to get a replacement sent. I'm picking up The Cruel Prince tomorrow from the library. I started to get the sniffles Friday too but started dousing Vitamin C drinks and hopefully I've headed it off.

    1. Lucky you. I can drink only self pressed orange juice from sweet oranges. If I go and buy the Vitamin C stuff you can get at the drugstore I look within two hours like if I´ve fallen into a nettle field. Get well soon and thanks for your visit.
