Waiting On Wednesday #87 – Under Currents by Nora Roberts

Wednesday, January 30, 2019
is a weekly event that was originally hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. This meme is a place that spotlights upcoming releases that we´re eagerly anticipating with pure joy.

There are a lot of new books coming out each year and some of them catch my attention and will get a spotlight in my Waiting on Wednesday post. While some of them will finally end up here at my place, others won´t.

I am joining Tressa at Wishful Endings and her meme Can´t-Wait Wednesday.

So far, I am not very fond of the cover. But you never know how a cover really looks until you hold it in your hands.

And as an old Nora Roberts fan, I simply have to have this one. The summary sounds like a thriller and promises some dark and deep hidden secrets.

Well, we´ll see how it will turn out. Until then I am waiting and hoping that my expectations will be fulfilled.

Author Nora Roberts
Publishing Date July 9, 2019
Publisher St. Martin´s Press
Format Hardcover
Within the walls of a tasteful, perfectly kept house in North Carolina´s Blue Ridge Mountains, young Zane Bigelow feels like a prisoner of war. Strangers – and even Zane´s own aunt across the lake – see his parents as a successful surgeon and his stylish wife, making appearances at their children´s ballet recitals and baseball games. Zane and his sister know the truth: There is something terribly wrong. As his father´s violent, controlling rages – and his mother´s complicity – become more and more oppressive, Zane counts the years, months, days until he can escape. He looks out for little Britt, warning her Be smart. Be careful. In fear for his very life, he plays along with the insidious lie that everything is fine while scribbling his real thoughts in a secret journal he must carefully hide away. When one brutal, shattering night finally reveals cracks in the façade, Zane begins to understand that some people are willing to face the truth, even when it hurts. As he grows into manhood and builds a new kind of family, he will find that while the darkness of his past may always shadow him, it will also show him what is necessary for good to triumph – and give him strength to draw on when he once again must stand up and defend himself and the ones he loves …

Happy reading

I am Vi, avid reader, book blogger and painter who loves to talk and write about books. A day without one in my hands is a wasted one. Skilled florist with a degree in writing - oh yes, that works. I like many genres, but horror is nothing for me! Have fun.

  4. That's an awesome cover. Definitely done is some of my favorite colors. Roberts is such a prolific writer, I don't know how she finds the time!

    1. As far as I know, she writes every day around eight hours. At least that is what she answered in an interview some years ago. Thanks for stopping by.

  7. This does sound good! I have only read a couple of her J. D. Robb books, not any under the name Nora Roberts. Yet, anyway. One of these days! I hope you love it when you read it.
