Waiting On Wednesday #89 – Chain Of Gold by Cassandra Clare

Wednesday, February 13, 2019
is a weekly event that was originally hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. This meme is a place that spotlights upcoming releases that we´re eagerly anticipating with pure joy.

There are a lot of new books coming out each year and some of them catch my attention and will get a spotlight in my Waiting on Wednesday post. While some of them will finally end up here at my place, others won´t.

I am joining Tressa at Wishful Endings and her meme Can´t-Wait Wednesday.

I LOVED her City of – series and enjoyed Lady Midnight and its sequel as much as my daily cup of espresso. Although I haven´t read her books about Magnus Bane, or the other ones she has written about the Academy, I am very much looking forward to this one and all those who will come afterward.

The fantasy Cassandra Clare shows in her books is just beautiful – no matter how ugly it gets. She might not write that kind of fantasy, some call High Fantasy, but her world is unique, entertaining and somewhere between the world we live in and that one, that is pure fiction. I like that and that is exactly what I am hoping that she will present in this new book as well.

Gosh, I hope that I am showing you the correct cover in this post. The author announced on social media, that they had worked on the cover again, and that the new one would now show more gold among other things; but I can´t see a difference ...

Cordelia Carstairs is a Shadowhunter, a warrior trained since childhood to battle demons. When her father is accused of a terrible crime, she and her brother travel to Edwardian London in hopes of preventing the family´s ruin. Cordelia´s mother wants to marry her off, but Cordelia is determined to be a hero rather than a bride. Soon Cordelia encounters childhood friends James and Lucie Herondale and is drawn into their world of glittering ballrooms, secret assignations, and supernatural salons, where vampires and warlocks mingle with mermaids and magicians. All the while, she must hide her secret love for James, who is sworn to marry someone else. But Cordelia´s new life is blown apart when a shocking series of demon attacks devastate London. These monsters are nothing like those Shadowhunters have fought before – these demons walk in daylight, strike down the unwary with incurable poison, and seem impossible to kill. London is immediately quarantined. Trapped in the city, Cordelia and her friends discover that their own connection to a dark legacy has gifted them with incredible powers – and force a brutal choice that will reveal the true cruel price of being a hero.

Happy reading

  1. I used to read all of Cassandra Clare's books religiously. Then I stopped reading all together and lost track of where I left off in the whole Shadowhunter world. Now she has so many books written that it is kind of overwhelming for me to start reading them again. Part of me wants to start and another part of me believes I should just leave it where it is xD

    1. I only know her City of-Series and The Dark Artifices. For the rest was no time. They came out as eBooks and within a short period of time. Was too much then. So, I understand you completely. Thanks for stopping by.
