With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it.  And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Tynga´s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Stacking The Shelves #88

As you all know, I usually only display here books I either bought or received as a review copy. Well, this week I will show the books I´ve borrowed from the library. Kind of tired writing every week that I “didn´t buy any books” *smile*

Sunday Post #45

You can tell that we are literally running towards the end of the year in huge steps. Our main street is one building site. Which means that all the traffic is going through the street where I live. Day and night. Cars, trucks, Tractors – no matter what kind of vehicle: it drives through our street. It is LOUD.

The other thing I had to deal with, was as unpleasant as the traffic noise is. The company that provides me with the Internet, TV, and landline, tried to trick me. I´ve got it all sorted out, but I am still angry with myself for not seeing it sooner. It could have saved me some time and nerves.

Let´s hope that at least the reset of the clock by one hour works better. I need some extra sleep.

I just got off the phone with my mom. After a week with no net, my cell showed me all kinds of messages and one of them was from my mom. She obviously had tried to call me but hasn´t left any message. And with the knowledge about my father´s dementia, I called her this morning as soon as I saw the info. Turns out, she´s been busy saving all the numbers she´s having in her old, broken phone into her new one, and while doing that she must have hit the dial button and that call went straight to my mailbox. I was kind of relieved that my dad was ok. And she too. We talked for almost an hour before my father came out of their bedroom. She told him to stay and that she was on the phone with me and therefore the breakfast table wasn´t ready, because it seems that he has developed the habit to go back to bed when he sees no coffee mugs and plates on the table. We laughed about it and then she told me, that he had hurt himself about three days ago while turning their matrasses from summer side to winter side. Now, his right arm looks like someone has beaten him up – all blue, purple, and every color in between. Only because he thought he could turn the damn thing all by himself. The doctor had told him that one of his cords snapped during the sudden move and the muscles in his arm got hurt too when the now detached cord had hit them. Oh boy! The only good thing about it all is, that my father hasn´t lost his humor. He can still laugh about himself, and as long as he is pain-free, which he obviously is, and doesn´t need any pain killers, things seem to be fine.

Now, the sun is shining, and I am hopefully able to go and read a bit. I have only nine books left to read for this challenge, before the year is over, to achieve my goal of 30 read NR titles. Though I am not sure what to read first or better said next. I feel under some sort of pressure lately with the end of the year coming closer and all the new releases I still want to read before the 31st December. I would love to achieve that goal, but that seems utopic considering the reading speed I have since January. Well, well...

How was your week?

Happy reading

  1. Vi I am sorry to hear that your father has dementia. My father some years ago seemed to lose his mind for some time and we feared it was dementia but it turned out to be something else that we could cure. Your mother is very courageous to care for him as losing one's mind asks for constant supervision and is so tyring! Now let's hope next week will get better and with less noise for you!

    1. My dad is, compared to other people who have dementia too, still very active and well. We know about his condition now for three years and during that time he only lost his short-term-memory. Good, he can´t drive anymore and that is not easy for him, but he´s not in the situation where he needs constant supervision. Might come one day, though. Thanks for stopping by.

  5. I hate it when I find I've been played for a fool - and it always takes time I haven't got to try and put it right... Glad you've got it sorted and that your parents are okay. I hope the road works in your road are soon over and you have a good week.

  6. I love the change from BST to GMT. It makes me happy and suits my behaviours/body clock (whatever you want to describe them) much better than the forced "1 hour forward" of spring/summer!
Sorry to hear you've had issues with the the TV/Internet people but glad they're sorted and I'm glad your dad isn't too badly injured too!

    1. I don´t like the so called "summer time/ winter time" change either. Hopefully our politicians will remove that "law" again for good. Thanks for stopping by.
