With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it.  And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Tynga´s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Stacking The Shelves #117

No new books this week.

Sunday Post #74

The past week has put me in free fall. Due to Corona all medical appointments had to be put on hold or rescheduled and some doctors couldn´t keep their office open. Meant that one of my annual check-ups couldn´t go on as planned and I went earlier this week to get me a new appointment. I met a friend I have not seen in weeks because of the lockdown on my way home and on Wednesday evening I created a Happy Father´s Day picture and thought, I don´t wait until the next morning to send it to them. Wrong. My father´s dementia has become worse. A lot worse to be honest. His doctor wants him to go into daycare at least once a week to give my stepmom some time for herself and my father the opportunity to see how others deal with this illness. I heard that for the first time Wednesday evening and told her that she had my full support and that I could step in as long as she was looking for a place. I thought it would be a nice thing to spend some time with my father besides the family gatherings we usually have throughout the year. The last time I´ve seen him in person was on Christmas Eve 2019. Then the virus hit, and we could only talk via phone. Well, turns out that my father not only refuses to go to the daycare he also told me to go to hell and that I shouldn´t dare coming over and give her (my stepmom) the chance to go and leave him. Truth is, he is in the panic that she would abandon him and that makes the situation worse. It is a terrible feeling.

The fact that the government is easing our restrictions again and that it looks as if we are back to the normal life we had before the virus isn´t making it any better. In some areas the infections have gone up again although the general R rate is under one. But it is for most of us clear that, if we don´t have a working vaccine, we will always have the risk of new infections.

Despite all this madness I was able to do some blogging. I wrote some reviews although not the ones I am supposed to write about. Somehow, I can´t make myself sit down and write about the review copies despite the near deadline. But I could edit some old posts so that they now look like the new ones and finished two books and started another one. The rainy weather helped me sitting down. When the sky is grey and cloudy, and rain is falling it feels as if life isn´t as dark anymore as it used to be.

How was your week? Stay safe and healthy.

Happy reading

    1. It is a very hard situation. How am I supposed to explain something that is only existing in his head? You have no chance.

    1. It is hard, yes. I guess for my stepmom it is even harder. She is with him 24/7.

  3. I am sorry to hear about your father. That must be really hard. Dementia is such an awful thing and with the pandemic happening too it just makes everythig worse. Sending you lots of supportive vibes and best wishes. Glad you were able to do some blogging though! I've been struggling a little bit with review myself...

Hope you have a good week ahead.

    1. It is hard. This illness is under normal circumstances already awful but with Corona? Even worse. Thanks for your kind and supportive words. And let us hope that we will find our energy again to write some reviews *smile* Happy Memorial Day, Greg.

  4. Yes I think things are opening up too soon. We aren't going out. I'm sorry about your father. That's not an easy situation and there won't be one simple solution.

    Stay well and Happy reading!

    1. I am staying at home as much as possible too. We have not found a solution we all can live with yet. But I fear that there is none my father would ever accept. Happy reading to you too and happy Memorial Day!
