is a weekly event that was originally hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. This meme is a place that spotlights upcoming releases that we´re eagerly anticipating with pure joy. There are a lot of new books coming out each year and some of them catch my attention and will get a spotlight in my Waiting on Wednesday post. While some of them will finally end up here at my place, others won´t. I am joining Tressa at Wishful Endings and her meme Can´t-Wait Wednesday.

When I heard for the very first time about this thriller, I was not really interested, to be honest. But then I read some of its Danish critics – something I normally try to avoid – and took a closer look at the summary and now I want to read it. Everything sounds like this book could be a very twisted story with some surprises and a strong and profound main figure. Good, the cover is not really mine, but that is something I can overlook. Sure, the cover is important, because it is the first thing you see when looking around for a new book to read. But in this case, I am more interested in the story itself. On the other hand, I might not be in love with the German cover because the original Danish cover looks familiar to me. Do you know the “The Last Namsara – Iskari book one” by Kristen Ciccarelli? Yep, I thought so too. However. Anne Mette Hancock is a new author to me and now on my reading schedule for 2021.

This book is the first in a series. The series is originally called Kaldan og Schäfer, which means in English “Kaldan and Schäfer”. In Germany, this series will be published as Heloise Kaldan. That is why I wrote both series names in the book data below. To avoid any confusion.

What does she want from Heloise of all places and where did she get the information about her from? At the same time, Commissioner Erik Schäfer also receives a new reference to the wanted person. All traces seem to lead to Heloise Kaldan. Is her life in danger? And can the police officer and the journalist trust each other?
