With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it. And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Tynga´s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Stacking The Shelves #148

Again, I was a good girl. No new books.

Sunday Post #105

Except for the fact, that we have had almost April like weather, my week was pretty uneventful. Well, sort of. On Monday it became public that Chancellor Merkel and some of her ministers are thinking about extending the current lockdown again but also tighten the already strict rules for a second time. Our numbers are still way too high, no matter if it is the number of new infections or the number of fatalities.

The result: people were running to the supermarket like crazy and buying veggies, fruits, cans and – yep, you guessed it right: toilet paper! – like there is no tomorrow. I felt the same way I felt in Spring last year when I stood in front of almost empty shelves around ten am and the guy who had to take care of that area had to tell me that he had nothing left to fill in again.

Ah yes… Well… The world is all covered in white. Friday to Saturday night it started to snow again and this time the snow stayed. On Sunday morning (today) I heard early in the morning how one of my neighbors was shuffling the snow aside and saw one of the town's snowmobiles driving through the streets. It is freezing cold and you can´t tell where the world ends, and the sky starts. It is a mix of white and grey outside.

I managed to finish Elementals: Scorch Dragons by Amie Kaufman and started to read Agalstra by Anna Herzog (a German author). It has only about 270 pages and seemed to be a fast read. Well, not quite. Both books are from the library, so I am making at least progress with that challenge. During the past few days, the Adobe Flash Player got finally turned off in Germany and now I am trying to get used to the new Pixlr Editing program. I mainly use it to cut pictures and to change their size so that they fit my blog template.

Other than the above my week was quiet and I am eagerly waiting for the results our government will make during the video conference they told us would be happening next Tuesday. It feels as if the world is on hold but isn´t really. Yes, we are in a lockdown, but you can see so many people out and about and home-office is not really happening. And you can tell that our government is not happy about that. And now, our foreign minister Heiko Maas has turned up the heat a bit by suggesting that all those, who´ve already got vaccinated, should be allowed to walk around as if no virus exists. Which started some sort of uproar among all those, who will have to wait until fall 2021 before it´s their turn with the vaccine. I really hope that Chancellor Merkel will make it clear that that is no option for her or the nation and won´t be happening.

How was your week? Stay safe and healthy.

Happy reading

  1. Well I am glad things were uneventful for you in the world of crazy now. We just stay home except for doc appts and I'm ok with it. I've been taking advantage of not moving much by doing lots of reading. Snow is pretty but Lulu hates it so we are lucky to only get a day or two a year here, not like when I lived in Minnesota. Happy reading!

    1. I fear, that when this pandemic is over we will have a winter without any snow.

  2. I'm sorry to hear the numbers are bad there, and that lockdown is being extended. We don't really have lockdown here, although there are restrictions and there's the usual wide range of opinions as to what is too much or not enough. I hope things get better soon in both our countries!

We got snow here too. Snow flakes were falling this morning and it was nice. "It is freezing cold and you can´t tell where the world ends, and the sky starts." I love a winter sky sometimes, although not the cold so much. :)

    Have a good week!

    1. I actually started to enjoy the cold temperatures. For me the best time to go for a walk and get some fresh air into my body and brain. Happy reading, Greg.

  3. Yes, we are in Lockdown here, too. But we have been told that while those who are vaccinated are probably not going to be badly affected if they catch COVID - they will still be able to pass the infection on! So wandering around without any masks or social distancing would be a disaster. Unless our information is completely incorrect...

Sorry that things are so rough - it's taken a while, but finally people are taking the Lockdown seriously on account of the spiralling death rate, which is a grim start to the year. But at least our vaccination programme is going ahead. Now my mother, my in-laws and my sister who works in a pharmacy have all had the jab and I'm expecting mine (I'm in my 60s) sometime around Easter.

I hope you have a better week:))

    1. Well, the situation is not easy. For none of us. Hopefully we can leave it behind us for good by the end of the year.

  4. Panic buying is the pits, especially since it is largely unnecessary. It’s amazing though that toilet paper is hoarded universally!
At least the cold and snow is another excuse to stay in and read

Wishing you a great reading week

  5. The toilet paper hoarding is just crazy. It makes a little sense now I guess because there's been such a shortage but at the beginning it was crazy. We are staying pretty much on lockdown regardless of the rules. It seems like here half the people are being super careful and the other half are convinced there's no virus. It's maddening. Hope you have a great week!

    1. It is crazy. Well, let us hope that we can go back to normal by the end of this year.

  6. It sounds like the situation is bad everywhere right now in regards to the virus. I doubt our governor would institute too many more restrictions since hardly anyone is following the ones he has set. It's very frustrating. My daughter would be jealous of your snow. She so wants to walk out her front door and play in it. I, on the other hand, am glad we do not live anywhere where it does snow. LOL

I am wishing for the best for all of us. Take care and have a great week!

    1. I love the snow as long as I am not the one who has to clean the boardwalk *lol*

  7. Things are just crazy right now. My sister left the state from being home with us for the last two months about a week ago, and is now back in Scotland. I hope you find out some good things tomorrow with the video conference. Have a good week!

  8. Just a tip : last year, when I had so much trouble finding toilet paper in conventional supermarkets, I found it very easily in organic supermarkets - people didn't think of it ^^ We're not in lockdown here, but the upped the curfew to 6PM because the virus only spreads at night as everybody knows... Oh well, let's do our best and have a great week !
