With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it. And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*

I am linking up with Caffeinated Reviewer and Reading Reality and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.

Sunday Post #171

Last Sunday I did my usual routine. I created new blog content, tried to read a book, visited some blogs, and watched a bit of TV.

Monday, I took care of my bank account, bought some sand and plants that had been on sale for the garden, and took care of my household. In the late evening, I went downstairs and dug out some more weeds and old grass. I want to seed a new lawn next week in a spot I can see from my balcony. The weather forecast is causing me some problems. All I hear is “first heat wave of the year” that will hit us with temperatures close to 40 above zero. Don´t need that, to be honest.

On Tuesday I replanted my lavender. Instead of growing, the lavender looked more like a dying plant, so a new spot was necessary. And I finally planted my woodland sage. I love the dark blue and purple color this plant shows. Hopefully, it will grow and flourish. And for the first time, I saw a Hummingbird in the garden. I was totally surprised. Didn´t even know that they existed in Germany. And how gorgeous they look. The golden-brown body with the black bud and the shiny wings – was just beautiful. Tuesday was also the day when I realized that we had a holiday coming up. So, I spent almost four hours in the bright sun preparing a spot for a new lawn. Don´t ask me how I felt afterward.

Wednesday was a mix of reading, writing some reviews, baking banana bread, and getting some further garden preparation done. I want this project to be finished. And with the bank holiday "Corpus Christi" on Thursday, the week is already shorter than thought. The flowers in the garden are growing, the white and purple alyssum looks beautiful and even the borage is this year a joy. I noticed that some of the white alyssums I had planted last year have spread. I see it in spots where I haven´t planted or sowed it out. And that makes me happy. Less work for me *lol*

Friday was the day I started seeding the new lawn. It took me almost two hours to get the job done. The wild grass is now gone (hopefully), and I hope that the new planting and seeding will result in a nice-looking lawn. Next step: some spring flowers, primroses, and summer plants for the spot around the rooting. After that, I wrote some new reviews and was apparently so engrossed in thought that I didn´t hear my doorbell. The book shipment was received by my neighbor so I could open the package the very same afternoon.

After another night with almost no sleep, I got up early Saturday morning and went to the supermarket to get food and drinks among other things for the weekend. Back home I went into the garden for about two hours. I didn´t do much, except for hurting my forefinger while ripping out some thorns. It soon became too sunny and hot where I was working. So the spot looks still like a mess at the moment. And those tiny white insects with wings looking like a triangle, I am at war with *lol* My body reacts nowadays with a painful allergic reaction, which I hate. Not life-threatening, no, but I hate that I can´t wear short pants and open shoes while I am in the garden.

Today, Sunday, I got up at 5 am. Outside it is deliciously cool, so I opened my windows and doors to let the cool air in. And with my windowsill just outside my bedroom being a start and landing space for the pigeons, I must clap my hands occasionally to make them fly away. I always fear that they will break through the fly net by accident, and the thought of having a wild pigeon in my bedroom is just yikes…. The day is supposed to get hot again, so I enjoy the early morning.

How was your week? Stay safe and healthy.

Happy reading

  3. You are making great progress in the garden! I felt that way about my planter I did last September. I couldn't wait to finish it. I'm so happy with it this year.

    1. I noticed that I don´t make plans for the garden anymore. There is a certain picture in my head and I try to plant that and make it visible for me and some of my neighbors which live on the back side of the building *smile*
