I can´t tell you what made me want this book. But I can tell you that it went way beyond my expectations. The humor, the Charme every single figure has, and the setting in Amsterdam gave this story a wonderful touch. While reading through the pages I had one heck of a great time. So, yes, I can absolutely recommend this book.

Story
Maddie is in court. But not to help another person. And since she has no regrets about what she did - defending her sister -, the judge orders her to take a round of anti-aggression training. And thus becomes the ideal candidate for a new job for ex-cop Arie. But what does she do with Isa while she works?
Style
The wonderful dialogues and scenes with this great sense of humor amused and entertained me from the first to the last page. And the reference to the author's name in one scene is delicious. I just couldn't help but smile broadly.
Strictly speaking, this isn't actually a crime thriller. Sure, there are a few dead, and an investigator, too. But for me, it was more of a wonderful series of delightfully entertaining scenes that felt more like a detective story than a police investigation. And the different characters give the story that certain something that makes this book a wonderful pleasure to read. The author fires off one unbelievable scene after the other and then manages to top it again at the end. I say only wedding party. What tears did I have when I read these pages. Brilliantly good.
Characters
I really liked the fact that the most diverse characters come together here, showing a wide variety of society.
Maddie is a colorful bird with ultra-conservative parents who takes care of her disabled sister Isa. Her parents have a big problem with both Maddie's and their younger daughter's differences. The author has shown in a sensitive and wonderful way how everyday life is shaped by the two of them.
Conclusion
A book I can only recommend. If you fancy a few fun and exciting hours with Maddie and the other characters, you should get this book as soon as possible. I enjoyed it and am already looking forward to the second volume.

Stil
Die herrlichen Dialoge und Szenen mit diesem tollen Humor haben mich von der ersten bis zur letzten Seite amüsiert und toll unterhalten. Und die Anspielung auf den Namen der Autorin in der einen Szene ist köstlich. Da konnte ich mir ein breites Grinsen einfach nicht verkneifen.
Wenn man es genau nimmt, dann ist das hier kein Krimi im eigentlichen Sinne. Sicher, es gibt ein paar Tote und auch einen Ermittler. Aber für mich war das eher eine wundervolle Aneinanderreihung herrlich unterhaltsamer Szenen die mehr von einem Detektivroman hatten als von polizeilicher Ermittlung. Und die unterschiedlichen Figuren geben der Geschichte dann noch das gewisse Etwas, was dieses Buch zu einem wundervollen Lesevergnügen macht. Die Autorin feuert hier eine unglaubliche Szene nach der anderen ab und versteht es dann am Ende noch, das nochmals zu toppen. Ich sage nur Hochzeitsfeier. Was hab ich da Tränen gelacht, als ich diese Seiten gelesen habe. Genial gut.
Charaktere
Mir gefiel es sehr, dass hier die unterschiedlichsten Figuren zusammenkommen, die eine breite Vielfalt der Gesellschaft zeigen. Maddie ist ein bunter Vogel mit erzkonservativen Eltern, die auf ihre behinderte Schwester Isa aufpasst. Ihre Eltern haben sowohl mit dem Anderssein von Maddie als auch dem ihrer jüngeren Tochter ein großes Problem. Wie sich der Alltag von den beiden gestaltet, hat die Autorin auf feinfühlige und wunderbare Weise hier gezeigt.
Resultat
Ein Buch, das ich nur empfehlen kann. Wer Lust auf ein paar vergnügliche und spannende Stunden mit Maddie und den anderen Figuren hat, der sollte sich dieses Buch schnellstens zulegen. Für mich war es ein Genuss und ich freue mich schon auf den zweiten Band.
