Another nice read of the author´s Green Mountain series, no doubt here. But as you will read in my review, I have some things that I am missing. Don´t get me wrong here, I LOVE this series, and will continue reading the books until the last book. But either the author has changed her style entirely or she decided to give the couples something darker and take out the humor and charm a bit.

✶✶✶

Charlotte “Charley” Abbott has gone out with every guy under thirty-five in Butler, Vermont – except for one. Tyler Westcott´s attempts to date her maybe determined, and frequent, but Charley can´t stand how he acts like he knows her better than she knows herself. So, when Tyler turns up at the running club Charley joins to train for a marathon, she´s almost ready to quit before she even gets started. Tyler knows that behind Charley´s prickly personality and dismissive attitude is a sweet woman he wants in his life. And when Charley suffers an injury while training, Tyler is ready to prove that the perfect man for her has been right there all along …
Story
Charley is not like her siblings. Not that she doesn´t want to find her true love one day. Not at all. But for her, it doesn´t mean that she can´t have her own life, think her own thoughts, and be as independent as possible. Yes, she loves her work, being part of the family’s business, but her personal life is something she wants to keep out of it. When Tyler makes a move she isn´t too happy about it. For her, he is just a friend. An annoying one sometimes, but still.

Style
A nice read, otherwise, this book was rather disappointing. Sure, the author has managed to conjure a beautiful story on paper here as well. However, I missed the joke and charm that is inherent in novels otherwise, here badly. Marie Force has remained true to her style. At least as far as the sensitivity, the gentle spelling, and the way the Abbott family interacts with each other. But in some passages, was too much distraction from the actual happening in there. And there were disagreements. Only slightly noticeable, but they were there. And the fact, that the author immediately goes to the full and already switched on the first pages of their main character from scratchy to cuddly, that was then a bit too sudden and not quite appropriate.

Characters
Molly oh, boy. There is one scene, where Charley´s mother gets so angry with her sister´s point of view. That was so inappropriate because I know Molly in this series as a pragmatic, loving, and always helpful woman. But in the scene, she shows a side of herself, which was very atypical. Didn´t like it.

Charley loves her family. But she does not always share their views. She says what she thinks, acts accordingly, and defends her job with vehemence. She would do anything for her siblings, but give herself up for it? It does not have to be. She is a beautiful and strong woman. And she has her own ideas about life, even if that does not necessarily please the rest of her family.

Conclusion
Sensitive, a bit cheesy, and sometimes not very logical. Anyone who likes novels without any great pretensions and just wants to read without having to think much about them, this sixth volume of the Green Mountain series is certainly a hit. Ain´t She Sweet is a novel that starts off great, only to lessen bit by bit. Since the role of the woman was pushed too much into the corner of the helpless and almost helpless person and the few cheesy spots were then too much of a good thing. The book is mostly nice to read, but it couldn´t really pack, touch or entertain me as the first parts of this series have. Sad, really sad.

Happy reading
