With the Weekly Book Wrap-Up, I give you a bit of an insight into all the new books that have arrived at my place. No matter if I won a giveaway, got approved for a reviewer´s copy, an ARC, or just bought one myself. Everything that I add to my shelves, in what way ever and read during the past week or am still reading, I will write about it. And maybe I tell you a bit about the upcoming things on Inkvotary, that is if I don´t forget it and have something to share with you *smile*
I am linking up with Tynga´s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer and hope you´ll have fun reading it and maybe get the one or the other book inspiration.
Stacking The Shelves #130

Sunday Post #87
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I was splitting my time between reading, writing, and cleaning out the rotting branches and cut grass another neighbor apparently just threw into one corner of the backyard during the summer. I can´t tell you HOW pissed I am! Not only that it looks awful it also is the best way to get fungus and other problems into your yard you really don´t want to have there. I don´t use the garden or have a Hollywood swing down there or a sun lounger but it was me, the landlord thought he could lecture about the mess he saw when he was here a few weeks ago. Not the others. ME. Grrrrrr.
On Thursday I heard while watching the weather forecast, that the smoke from the California wildfires, has now reached Germany. The picture the meteorologist showed on television with the huge cloud of smoke was fascinating despite the danger of the situation in the US. You can see it when you watch the sunset or the sunrise. Saturday morning, I went up early and took the pictures below.
This one I took in the early evening hours on Saturday on my way to the supermarket. I looked up into the sky, saw our church steeple and the pale pink blue behind it, and thought what a lovely picture. Well, my cellphone thought otherwise *lol* Or can you spot it?
The rest of the week I did some blogging, downloaded covers, edited them, and visited other blogs. I have a solid muscle ache after all the yard work but thought I use the warm and sunny weather to get rid of most of the ugliness there. And I hope that the tetanus shot I got from my doctor about two years ago is still good. Oh well …
How was your week? Stay safe and healthy.
Happy reading

I love the covers of the books you got. I'm quite curious with the first review copy you shared, does it have an English title? Anyway, I hope you're safe and well. I didn't know that the smoke from California reached Germany. Just too far! That's scary tho. Take care!

You mean the Zsuzsa Bánk book? That is currently only available in German. But in English the title would be, I guess, "Christmas house". I was surprised too, when the forecaster said that with the smoke. I thought it would take much longer for the smoke to reach us. Stay safe and thank you for stopping by.
DeleteI love that you've picked up so many Christmas themed books. I should read a lot more of those during November/December/January, because I'm a Christmas FAAANN!
ReplyDeleteWell, publishers throw them on the market around September and when one asks me to review them, I usually don´t say no *smile* Maybe they get me into the Christmas mood...
DeleteIf you can see the smoke, I should have seen the smoke, but then again, I don't go out much these days. Back when I lived in Florida, we had a draught and fires were an issue. The air quality is terrible. I hope they get that under control soon. I have Cursed. I have not read it, but I have it. I will have to keep an eye out for your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI hope that I can read it soon. Don´t know if I will read the English edition or the German edition which is supposed to come out in a few weeks. Well ... But I will definitely post a review here *smile*
DeleteSorry to hear about the yard waste! And isn't that crazy about the smoke? And the fires as well. 2020 is awesome, isn't it? Urghh.
ReplyDeleteLove the holiday covers! So festive. :)
Be well and have a great week!
I am sorry you got stuck having to clean up after your neighbors. :-( It was nice of you to do. They do not know how lucky they are. Despite the tragedy of the situation, the smoke traveling so far that you see it there in Germany is just another example of how small our world is and how we are all connected. I was reading this morning that the firefighters are gaining on the fire nearest me. It has been going on 10 days now since it started. It is about 45% contained. It isn't making news anymore the way the bigger fires in the Northern part of the state or like Oregon and Washington are. My heart just aches for all those impacted by the fires--and all those animals. We desperately need cooler weather and rain.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great week, Vi!
Nice photos! Yes I have lots of yard work coming up myself. This week is supposed to be less rainy. A tetanus shot usually is good for 10 years. Enjoy your new reads!
